Katherine Peeler is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Global Health and Social Medicine, and Bioethics at Harvard Medical School (HMS). Additionally, at HMS, she is a faculty mentor of Harvard Student Human Rights Collaborative Asylum Clinic. She has volunteered with the non-profit Physicians for Human Rights for almost two decades, and as one of their medical experts, Dr. Peeler has worked directly with child and adult asylum seekers and has researched, written about, testified, and spoken publicly about the health and rights of asylum seekers. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Peeler was sought out as an expert in the health of unaccompanied immigrant children for several legal cases aimed at protecting their health. Dr. Peeler's work is informed by the lenses of human rights, medical anthropology, and bioethics. Clinically, she practices pediatric critical care medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital.
